This picture was inspired by a memory of Venice on a day trip from Slovenia. St. Marks Square was so crowded my family were pushed into the surrounding backwaters avoiding the masses.It reminded me of the film 'Don't Look Now'! It was moody and strangley threatening. Not at all what we expected.

I am a retired dentist, born in 1956 in a very remote village called Manoharpur, India. My parents of Portuguese catholic, German jewish, Indian and French heritage moved with five of my seven siblings to the UK in 1958 after partition. I live in Bristol, England. In spite of having no formal training I decided to paint in 1998 at the age of 42, as a diversion and release from the stresses of work. My main inspiration is science.
