About The Artwork

This picture was born on a New Moon and I finished painting it when the Full Moon glistered with silver on a frozen lake. The very fact that the canvas was birthing step by step, together with the Moon, reflects that this painting speaks a feminine theme. When I paint, it is as if I walk into a dense forest; where one branch after another it is turning into a garden. In this forest I found such symbols: a rose, a shell and a golden egg. From these elements we can indeed grow a wonderful garden, but what is it about? While I was painting a feminine silhouette, in my head I started hearing - its a Venus! So I googled. I knew that it is an ancient goddess, who was called Aphrodite in the Ancient Greece. She was responsible for love, beauty, sex, fertility, prosperity and victory. It got more interesting when I realised what this golden egg in the middle of a canvas was. When I read that Cupid (Amur, Eros)- is the God of love and passion, Venus' son hatched from the golden egg. In the past, different gods' lives were intertwined with simple people's every day lives. As I was painting, I got an insight that maybe when people used to believe in many gods, this also helped them to manage their reality, which in itself is multi-dimensional. All the reality that we see in this world, is our common collective creation. So for example, if we all agree to pray for the goddess of harvest, we would indeed manifest a bigger harvest, because we all together created it with our joined minds. Goddess then is the highest expression of this harvest. This is similar to how neuroscience technology works - imagine that we all agree and create manifestations in the world. So this was an opportunity to read quite a few stories about Venus, about her birth, life, her lovers and her children. It looks like her portrait was changing with time. From such feminine aspects like love, beauty, prosperity, to the object of laughter. Finally Venus became only an association with a naked woman or with venereal diseases. In this painting I see a mother and her loving embrace, who provides all that is needed for a happy life. She is also the Earth in the infinite cosmic ocean. Oh dear child, you are the very golden egg of your own mother, so hatch and share your love.

Author’s Statement Unplanned paintings. I start the painting by entering into the unknown, with feelings expressed in abstract expressions. I allow the content of the painting to grow on its own. I do not stick to the first associations or my expectations, but follow the structure of the painting until unplanned scenes are born ... not as random as it may seem. The process of painting is a field of exploration, which helps me to understand and perceive the structure of reality. In my work I am guided by a sense of discovery and view it as a journey into the collective unconscious ... into the inner, dream world. The experience of all the ages lies there - the code of self-awareness that opens the door to mythological narratives, which the viewer can sense and identify with. Surreal images that emerge in my work describe the living mythical world, which we each carry within ourselves. In my paintings, I seek to create a refuge, a medium that allows observers of the image to reflect and meditate on this inner world, which expresses the language of myths, metaphors and archetypes. Biography My story begins in Lithuania, but art is where my journey starts. Trained as a painter and then as a painting restorer at Cambridge Regional College and my homeland, I started working as an art director in one of the largest advertising agencies in Lithuania. However, after 6 years, an overwhelming desire for a more profound knowledge of the universe and myself woke me up from the corporate dream. I traveled to search for the answers in the Andes and the Amazon jungle. These spiritual journeys have opened up to me a unique perception of the world. The sensation of the subtle world and Nature has become the greatest source of inspiration. Thanks to all the experiences, I can finally walk my artistic path guided by my heart. 1987.09.21 – born in Kaunas, Lithuania; 2006-2007 – studied Drawing and Painting in Cambridge Regional College (United Kingdom); 2007-2010 – graduated Painting Restoration in Kaunas College Faculty of Arts (Lithuania); 2011-2017 – worked as an Art Director in advertising agency „VRS WPI Vilnius“ (Lithuania); 2015-2018 – launched a „Faust Watches“ brand.
