Solo painting exhibition with the name "The Bewilderments of Vincent", 25-29 September 2015, Shalman Art Gallery Vincent look, we are lost! The motif of the exhibition is inspired and oriented around 15 of Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings; depicting an unpleasant contrast between conditions and ideals of the time Van Gogh lived and the 21st century. In fact, the artworks would distinctly criticize the actual realities of the present-day e.g. anger, infringements of human privacy, inclination towards absolute luxury, being superficial, deviation from human values, the widening gap between the poor the rich, Environmental degradation and addiction in its various forms consumerism, by exposing the viewers to an angle where they can behold and compare the discrepancies of the 19th and the 21st centuries. Parisa Sahafiasl in her works of art lays stress on the idea that if Van Gogh was to live today what factors would drive him away from being Van Gogh. From the painter’s point of view, Van Gogh symbolizes the unity of body and soul, the endless battle of virtue and vice and the unique emblem of purity, the elements modern human, who has little understanding of inner nature of objects, has entirely lost and in return resorted to rage to prove himself, turning to a thing devoid of reflection and free will trapped in the circle of consumerism. These works of art are not meant to depict Vincent’s bewilderments, but to reveal the ones of modern human in an era of leading forgetfulness. Parisa Sahafiasl was born in Ardebil - Iran in 1984 and holds a PhD degree in history of Islamic Arts and has had exhibitions of her paintings in different cities so far.
