Oil on Canvas 48 x 60 x 1.5 inches * Winter Rain 5 is my continuous series of Winter in New York. Winter Rain always reminds me of hazelnut coffee after a cold rainy day walk. This Painting consists of three different elements which I try to explore the canvas by using these 3 elements, One is the element of abstract, the second is a contemporary effort to show enough space and motif, and last, still adding charming elements like lights, and moving effects. I finish the work with overall satisfaction of the layout. I am trying to create a "New Winter Spirit" by combining these elements. I try to finish my artwork with highly defined techniques. Ultimately, this is an effort to create something powerful from daily life or mundane subject matter.

"The Basic philosophy of my art is bringing the huge Power or energy from nature or daily life. My abstract does not come from the direct practice of Abstract on canvas, I explore my own abstract without giving up what I see in front of me." In most recent years, Shin has dedicated his focus to New York City. The expressiveness of New York City -- its brilliant culture, vast history, and even the very streets of the metropolis -- has continued to inform his work as he develops his artistic voice. Shin’s ultimate goal is to transform the scenes of daily life into a kind of visual poetry through his technical mastery of breaking down color and light. That visual poetry is the basis of a new kind of art form which Shin hopes to create and convey, influenced by Korean calligraphy and the bold brushstrokes of Expressionism.
