I won’t become a mountain bike champion in my lifetime. But this magnificent park, which was created in the Bay of Islands by the hands of masters and offers rides studded with one spectacular view after another, is highly addictive. The colours in the last stretch of one of our favourite tracks appear downright unreal. I never tire of indulging in the firework of brilliant rust tones in the soil and forest pond with New Zealand flax in front of the shrub flowering profusely in bright yellow. This watercolour painting comes in an off-white mount.
