About The Artwork

a self-portrait from the time I was in my very early 20s. I went to live in Lago Gutierrez in the Patagonia region of Argentina, and I fell in love with a guy, a few years older than me, named Pablo U. He was managing a local hosteria while he was figuring out whether to return to his life and ex-girlfriend in Buenos Aires, or remain in Patagonia. We dated while he was trying to figure that out, and I guess I had watched too many movies where this one girl is so irresistible that changes the life of anyone. Based on his attitude, I felt I was that one girl. One day, he told me that the ex-girlfriend was arriving in a week so I had to move from his place. Like that and as cold as an ice-bucket. An Australian couple living just four blocks from the hosteria let me stay at their spare room while I was finding another home to rent. During the two weeks I lived with John Edmunds, his wife and three adorable children, I would spend hours sitting at the window Waiting for Pablo U (the tittle of this painting). He never came, and I found another beautiful home to rent just three blocks from the Edmunds. A few months later, it was my turn to leave Patagonia for a different pasture. :-)

Using oil or acrylic on canvas, paper or wood, I paint landscapes, cityscapes, and surreal-impressionist representations of women. Brightly colored and uplifting, my paintings tell stories that touch the relationship of sentient beings with nature, and the tribulations of women throughout history. Some of these landscapes and cities will disappear due to climate change. I want to leave a legacy of what they used to look like.
