Wash Away Painting

Born and raised in Asunción, Paraguay, Rebeca Villasanti took the decision of moving to Lawrence, Kansas to study at the University of Kansas. After three semester in the Design program, Rebeca transferred to the Visual Art program to pursue her dream of being an artist. Planning on obtaining her BFA in Visual Art and minor in Art History in Spring 2022. After experimenting with different disciplines, oil painting and charcoal became her preferred mediums. Rebeca enjoys creating an intimate connection with her work by including gestural brushstrokes in her paintings and by mostly using her hands to blender her charcoal drawings. Additionally, her pieces are often linked to mental illness with which she relates. Rebeca plans to expand her knowledge of the art world by working in art galleries and museums. She also intends to get a MA in Curatorial Practice to become a curator and open her own gallery.
