"We're All Gorilla Girls 2" Painting

Painting: Acrylic, Ink, graphite on cradled wood panel. Original painting from the series "WE'RE ALL GORILLA GIRLS" Inspired by reading Ninth Street Women, this series conveys story telling and an interest in a multi-displined visual approach; viewing drawing, painting, photography and language- all- as mark making. This piece combines an image from an old photograph of a women being "bold for her time" with text and skecthes from old drawing books of my artist/mother's. Edges are treated but left natural wood color, requires no framing, ready to hang. Wood surface is first coated with an 3 layers of isolation coat to prevent any discoloration from the raw wood seeping into the picture. The final picture is again coated with a permanent clear isloation coat before the final archival varnish is applied to protect against dust and uv rays. This process allow the varnish to be removed were it ever necessary but leaves the isolation coat still protecting the picture. The painting is signed and dated with the title on the back. Certificate of Authenticity included.
