ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The art work is made using acrylic paint on paper with some collage application in parts of the composition. Inspiration comes from abstract artists such as Helen Frankenthaler and Arshile Gorky, where intersecting shapes connect forming new dynamic compositions. Some areas in the art work are painted spontaneously in various thicknesses, occasionally exposing different colours underneath. The painting is open to interpretation, but the shapes colours used are intended to evoke a certain atmosphere and mood. Artwork purchased includes a high quality wooden black frame with white matt and perspex glazing. Art work material - Acrylic on heavy weight paper adhered to board. **although the art work is on paper, the final presented framed work is completely flat with no rippling** Artwork dimensions unframed - 64 cm height x 48 cm width Exterior edge frame dimensions with matt - 82 cm x 66 cm Shipped in a box

My interest in art started at an early age. I remember seeing books at home where I grew up in the 1970's. The books were about impressionism, surrealism and my favourite showed art from the DADA movement. In my teens I became obsessed with Andy Warhol and it was at this point that I realised making art was what I wanted to do. The Paintings you see on my Saatchi Art platform are in chronological order. The first paintings were made in 2018. They were created very precisely and accurately and are influenced by minimalist ideas. Through 2019 my work moved away from minimalist abstractions and started to veer more towards an expressionist style. Through 2020 and going into 2021, I am exploring ideas that attempt to strike a balance between a minimalist mindset and the spontaneity of an expressionist. The paintings are created using acrylic on heavyweight paper and sometimes I use charcoal, graphite and oil pastel. In the next few month I will be starting to execute my larger paintings on canvas.
