About The Artwork

This piece was produced following a sitting with a friend. During this time we discussed the challenge of conforming and the seriousness that we face as adults with responsibility and dependents. This piece intends to challenge that burden, in a protest to stay young. Finished with a pale pink tray frame.

Born in 1989, Ellis King is a contemporary artist living and working in Norwich, England. King’s paintings focus on portraiture of women and merge bold, abstract displays of colour with fine, realist detail. Her unique style – which falls somewhere between realism and abstract – is narrative-filled, and hopes to redefine what it means to be a woman; to protest the ongoing gender inequality we have accustomed to and accepted as the norm.
