About The Artwork

In India, we have many "Triveni Sangams" which are essentially confluence of three rivers. This work of mine somewhat depicts that concept. But I wanted to explore more on the moment of the confluence where the different streams carrying their own body of waters meet and then there's this magnanimous splash, through which the waters diffuse into each other, then slowly residing and repeating the phenomenon time and again.

“He is nature mystic and believes in delineating the poetry that is dormant with landscapes and the environment.” In the contemporary Indian art scene, Pradip Rakshit is considered one among the eminent painters of this time. His abstracts landscapes are a melange of deep rooted mysticism and poetry. His colours get effortlessly soaked in the shape of his works. A deep contemplation gets reflected in his canvases and he is ever driven towards an even deeper cogitation. There’s a subtle nuance in each of his works that intensifies as the colours and shapes communicate with each other. Viewers have often described their experience of standing in front of his canvases as a meditative process, which only grows with time until they are compelled to give themselves up completely to the painting. Born in Assam, Pradip moved to Kolkata in 1975 to pursue his dream and started studying Fine Arts in Indian Arts College, Kolkata. “Seeing the bustling life here, the buildings, the traffic, I felt like this is the Mecca of drawing and painting.” Gradually he got to meet with eminent artists of that time like Ganesh Pyne, Bikash Bhattarjee, Bijan Chowdhury and so started his journey of becoming one. Over the past 36 years, Pradp’s works have been exhibited in numerous exhibitions in India and abroad and are part of many private collections.
