These iconic trees have fascinated her for years with their slow growth and beautiful form. Capturing these trees in her work is a means to draw attention to the fact that they are endangered. Populations of many species of grass tree have been devastated by Cinnamon Fungus, land clearance for agriculture and urban development, inappropriate burning, over-harvesting of foliage and illegal removal of the plants. Through the use of strong lines, bold colours and overpainted textures Tania is endeavouring to capture the delicacy and strength of this vast country.
