About The Artwork
This is a protest against invasion and suppression, inspired by a trip to Prague- a city twice invaded in the last century (first Hitler and the fascists, then Russia and the communists). The title is also the title of the Czech national anthem. I am close to a family who lost everything to the invaders/ occupiers. Many of them were eliminated. I used acrylic and coloured chalks to try and capture how the modern city is suffused with its past.
