Which Way is up? Painting

Repentant Carbon Criminal I'm painting thought and emotion, the concerns that keep me awake or wake me early and also my excitement for the future . My painting directs these sometimes negative thoughts into ( I hope )beautiful images and helps keeps me in the ‘here and now’ (rather than spiralling into anxiety ) These images are an expression of the human condition, sometimes fiery and bold and sometimes nuanced with melancholy . They are grown up stuff about my life, graphs of memory, regret and hope , an outsider finally given the chance to look inside. When I paint I often include an image of a ball or orb , often in place of the sun, to represent thought and concern, weight or hope, I think the images can sometimes look very different but the connecting mood in each image is this wonder and concern weighed in equal measure . I pick up my brushes, and look out of my window, I see that that nature is preparing an ironic twist; altered as it by human intervention, and i’m as guilty if not more so than the next person, but all I can do is carry it on as father ,son ,husband ,brother,..human .
