I painted this on returning from an adventure in Asia feeling very happy and wanting a little more tropical adventure in my life. The subject matter is actually one of my plants, I decided on a colour scheme that would give it tropical almost jungle like vibes with plenty of movement and depth, almost like it's going to suck you into it's wildness- how exciting! I painted the base layer in acrylic because it dries quickly and it's good just to get the overall layout and colours down, and then I added several layers of oil paint to give the painting depth and detail.

About The Artwork

I painted this luscious little number on returning from adventures in Asia, wanting more tropical adventure in my life. I'm a bit obsessed with plants. Housebound in 2020 and unable to go to the jungle... I decided to bring the jungle to me... 20 very large plants (that have taken over my studio)...  and I'm forever inspired by foliage and love painting tropical plants and scenes in particular. This painting was made by applying a rich vibrant base layer of acrylic and then adding many thin layers of oil paint to give the leaves and flowers depth and detail so the over all painting looks like it might suck you into the wild with it.
