About The Artwork
Winds #2 is a captured emotion. Like a spirit held in a jar. A spirit is full of fiery energy with the experience of being locked down. Angry, yet hopeful. Calculating, impulsive. Finding new possibilities within the new confines. Like a rare specimen on display for all to see, Winds #2 reveals my inner experience of being trapped inside during Amsterdam's 2020 winter and COVID curfews. Part of my spirit remains confined, and I imagine yours does too.

NZ, but living in Amsterdam. I fell through 'The Gaps', and it happened quite early in life. I never found a way back to a grounded reality after leaving it, nor do I particularly want to. It feels unnatural to be something I'm not, I guess. So here I am, Gap Dweller. I left home at 17. Been working at bars since then, learning life from people who turned out to be functioning alcoholics. Etc When I was 16 I lived in Japan. I became fluent in Japanese and did calligraphy every day and you can see that influence now in my art. I make my own paint pens using dripper bottles and ciggy filters. I modify paint brushes to suit my needs. Etc
