About The Artwork

I was once at this incredible Halloween party, at this stunning Victorian Mansion, with hundreds of guests. Everyone was so colorfully dressed, and every room in the house was beaming with pure joy. Though the night was so incredibly memorable, there was a very specific moment that night which I continue to revisit. I was in this large room, by the bar naturally, taking it all in. Standing directly across from me was this beautiful, fair haired woman, doing the exact same thing I was. I couldn't help but observe her. Even though we were 30 feet apart with probably 50 people in between us, in that exact moment, I felt an instant connection. Here's this girl, taking it all in too. Probably thinking to herself, "How the hell did I get here." Only seconds before noticing her, I too had the exact same thought. How did I get here. How lucky am I to be at a cool ass party like this. Fast forward about 7 months. I'm in my studio, about to paint a large canvas. COVID is a thing. Lockdowns are a thing. No Parties is a real fucking thing. I'm extremely happy to be painting, but all I can think about on this day is how badly I miss connecting with people. How desperately I'd do anything to connect with someone. And...click. "Connection". In it's rarest and most abstract form, I remember THAT connection. Halloween 2019. Mansion. The Woman at The Party.

I'm a Canadian Artist and Poet, born and raised in Toronto. I started my career in the arts as an actor, having worked in both film and theater. Though I have always loved the craft of acting, I quickly came to realize that my passion was not singularly the form of acting, but instead, was studying the form of pure human expression. Art, in all varieties, is the language of human existence. It is the binder that holds our entire species together, and is a conduit between a two souls, channeling feelings and experiences beyond the articulation of the common tongue. As I began to explore painting, I discovered a new voice, and my own ability to share abstract ideas and experiences. I became fascinated with the vast expanse of tools at my disposal, and the ways in which I could use those tools to tell my own stories. The idea of expressing simple feelings like "happiness through a particular hue of yellow" led me to ask more questions. "If Yellow is a color of happiness, then what is the color of Elated?" How far can I take this new language? What can I show through this palette? My work is a reflection of my discoveries, as I venture through this incredible medium. Each piece, an integral part of a collection of experiences and feelings. A key to the inside of my home.
