About The Artwork

An idea came while observing a Yoga class which my daughter was doing online. I wanted to create a painting to show the auric vibration that was surrounding my daughter while she was teaching Yoga. Lotus with many petals was the first image that came to me .....rest is history. Yogi is best described as one who synchronizes the human body and mind, which leads to internal sense of serenity. The one who has mastered the art of breathing, mediation and aligning and energizing the seen chakras. The painting incorporates many aspects of Yoga. The subtle chakra of the subtle body as shown in the painting is depicted in the painting as a full bloomed lotus when awakened. The 7th chakra at the crown of the head called Sahastrar chakra or the lotus of thousand petals. The word Yoga mean, "To unite", "to come together", " To attain peace harmony and well being". Yoga unlocks the goodness of energy, power and purpose within oneself. The painting itself oozes out with positive energy, enhances the area and creates good vibes.

I was born just a year before my country got its independence - in 1946 in India. As I grew, so did my country. I have seen it rise from a dusty, sleepy country to a major player in the world market. I also spent more than a decade as a radio officer in the merchant navy and had the opportunity to travel the world.

All this has shaped my view of the world and I feel I am better for it. My paintings incorporate the diversity I have experienced during my life.

Adventurer, teacher, landscapist...or all of these?

As an artist I have no formal training and am entirely self taught. I do not adopt a single style of art. My work reflects touches of abstract, nature studies, charcoal sketches, still life, pointillism, impressionism and some spiritual overtones.

My prime motivation is to share and evoke creativity in everyone, especially children.
