An afterimage or a closed eye visualization is an image that continues to appear in one's vision after the exposure to the original image has ceased. An afterimage may be a normal phenomenon or may be pathological. These works are meditations on afterimages. They occur because photochemical activity in the retina continues even when you are no longer experiencing the original stimulus, through meditative relaxation techniques by visually manifesting objects or environments, image burn-in from very bright objects in one's field of vision, liquid air bubbles on your eye or (blue field entoptic phenomenon) that can be seen as dots darting around when staring up into a bright blue sky on a sunny day.
