The painting of Princess Zinaida Nikolayevna Yusupova (Юсупова, Зинаида Николаевна) is inspired from the portraits of past times. From portraits of the noble men and women who posed in their beautiful houses and castles of their time. Zinaida was an Imperial Russian noblewoman, the only heiress of Russia's largest private fortune of her time. Famed for her beauty and the lavishness of her hospitality, she was a leading figure in pre-Revolutionary Russian society. I try to put myself in that time period in order to familiarize myself with the person. Then follows extensive research into the characters’ history, before I can finally start painting this beautiful woman. The painting contains self-designed jewellery, smooth backgrounds and a lot of relief - touching is allowed! -. The Painting is acrylic/mixed media on a museum-quality canvas Alu-framing system, hand-stretched with Belgian Linen.
