Husbands, children, friends aside... at the end of the day, our most influential relationships are with what we spend the most time with. Our world has an obsession with hot and cold beverages, coffee and tea. They dictate how we start our morning, how we choose a spot to relax with a friend on a Saturday afternoon, how we will warm ourselves at night by the fire. I didn't start drinking tea regularly until mid-way through my 20's. Now I have a cup of tea in the morning, a cup of coffee just before lunch, and another cup of tea in the afternoon. I never stop steeping the tea. The bag remains in the mug the whole way through, growing to a peak of bitterness, then cooling. This is the second of a series of explorations of this relationship to coffee and tea. Heavily-laid acrylic on simple canvas. Texture is smooth with rough patches of thick paint.
