Title: "Recurrent Dream " About the painting: This work is part of the Ark Project carried out during the period 2010 - 2012 and whose theme is inspired by the relationship of the body with the idea of desire and finitude of life. It is a theme that evokes not only the symbols of morality, but also a mythical space in which man is confronted with his condition of being mortal. Modernity changes the meaning of death as it is understood in the myth of creation. Being entropic and irreversible, death is an absolute evil that takes away all hopes of living in fullness due to the fear of losing it at any moment. The modern cult of living life to the fullest, the intense pursuit of happiness for the satisfaction of all desires corresponds to this perspective of finitude. Thus, life on earth is an imperfect simulation of the grace state of Eden. Size: The painting is 37,8 H x 27,6 W inch in a 46,5 x 35 x 1,6 inch frame and is ready to hang. This Artwork is hand signed and dated in the backside. Along with the Artwork, will be shipped the certificate of authenticity. "My work is deeply linked with the world around me. Everything I do is inspired in lived experience, places I see, booksI read, people I met, all that are buildings blooks of the constructions I made, I see them as special models of tension, a "momento" that yelds the power of tranformation." Julio Alves has produced a diverse body of work that includes painting, drawing, installation and sculpture. With his studio based in Estoril, in the portuguese atlantic coast, he has developed his activity for nearly three decades and has carried out several solo and group exhibitions. With an academic background in architecture, subsequently studied painting at the Society of Fine Arts of Lisbon and in recent years has been devoted entirely to painting. It was during the last decade that he continually has developed the theme of the landscape that is still the core of his work.
