About The Artwork

• This abstract resembles an image of a man who lost his head, 2 arms, and a portion of his leg in a horrible accident while operating a tunnel boring machine (TMB) in 2014 at Nevada's Lake Mead to help conserve the state's depleting water supply. • Water supply has been one of Nevada's big headaches, considering the increased demand for water from thousands of current and increasing new residents, and from roughly 40 million yearly visitors who come to Las Vegas to gamble, be entertained by David Copperfield, see Celine, go to In N Out to eat and brush their teeth. • The extremely dry Nevada weather and the unfavorable effects of climate change seem to confound the state's decreasing water supply. Although the state has enforced rules of water conservation among residents, no one has been told to stop taking a bath yet. Otherwise, people will move out of Nevada, and out-of-town visitors wanting to gamble and look for fun will increase the number of unhappy people in America. And that would cause many of them to go to China or Argentina. As an artist resident of Las Vegas, I follow these no-nonsense rules as an act of personal patriotism to help conserve water: (1) When people come to visit or buy paintings at my gallery, or open new investment account in my office, I offer them soda - no water, tea, or coffee; nor do I show them the bathroom when they need to pee, or poop; (2) When I need to wine and dine people who had bought paintings, or given me checks to invest, I drive them to California, Arizona, or Utah. Those who bought no art, or opened an account assure Nevada of no related negative change in its supply of water; (3) The whole property around my French Chateau is partly covered with solid cement, and I always tell my gardener to pull any wild grass she finds illegally drinking water, or punish them with a whack; (4) Instead of taking a shower 4X a day, I rarely do 2 a week; and (5) For retired physician/clients who plan to hold their alumni conventions in Las Vegas, I advise them to do it in the winter when humidity is low, precipitation is high, the clouds are back from vacation, and the police are all over the place looking for anyone lining up in carwash stations. • When I decided to do "The Tunnel", my goal was naturally to apply my ability to express thoughts that come to mind, such as when I got fascinated by how the TMB workers were doing their jobs deep at the bottom of Lake Mead, which is the world's 16th biggest man-made lake for storing water. • The fact that I ended up talking about the importance of conserving water made my decision to paint the "Tunnel" even more relevant. • Water is as important as oxygen not only among humans, but also among plants and animals. Imagine what would happen to our beloved pets if there is no water. To express this concern, I chose to paint the entire yellow image in the "Tunnel" to include 2 heads belonging to 2 conjoined adorable twin dogs looking away from each other, which I painted both at the top of the main image. Both dogs look as if they are afraid that the water drought in Nevada will continue to get worse. Of course, nobody wants that to happen, including me, who's been dreaming of increasing my trips to the shower room by 50% from 2X a week to 3.
