About The Artwork

Series of 8 small paintings in oil. 6 paintings are on canvas board (each 35 x 24,3 x 0,4cm), 2 paintings are on stretched canvas (each 30 x 24 x 2,3cm). The distance between the 8 paintings, the sequence, order, and arrangement is variable according to the space and situation. The hanging system on the back of the boards is only provisional. The work is inspired by a path or parcours through a park or landscape with facilities or 'instruments' to physically work-out for fitness. These pieces of work-out-architecture are placed on a trim track. It is about to work with color, the inside and the outside. There is construction, concept and gesture. There are elements were idea and concept are clashing. It is figurative and abstract.

https://jasmingenzel.com "Jasmin Genzel works on a visual atlas composed by minimal gestures, where subtracting has more importance than the posing and placing. ‘By force of uplifting’ could be the title of this introduction and in general to her work (…). It is the ridge between thinking and acting that her work communicates and evokes (…)" by Benedetta Cestelli Guidi, Roma October 2006. "Jasmin Genzel is not a member of a specific movement in art. She goes her own way. (...) Her works show the approach of the Arte Povera, Conceptual Art and maybe some ideas of Joseph Beuys. Jasmin Genzel is typically an artist with her roots in the late twentieth century. There are some interesting contradictions in her work. (...) It makes her works both poetical and philosophical.
