Ships in a Box
The picture is inspired by the story of expedition of British ship “the Bounty”. It was a small merchant vessel purchased by the Royal Navy for a botanical mission. The ship was sent to the Pacific Ocean under the command of William Bligh to acquire breadfruit plants and transport them to British possessions in the West Indies. That mission was never completed due to a mutiny led by Acting Lieutenant Fletcher Christian. This was the famous Mutiny on the Bounty. The ship was later burned on Pitcairn Island by the mutineers. On the painting depicted the moment of arrival of the ship to the island of Tahiti and meeting with natives. Contact of two such distant civilizations made a great impression on many members of the crew and became a starting point for further development of dramatic events.

Grebenyuk Valeriy was born in the city of Luhansk. In creative work great interest is shown to the subjects of the historical and socio-political themes. In such interests not the last role has being played a degree in history and international relations received at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, and successfully passed in 2018 the defense of thesis for a Candidate degree in historical sciences (doctor of philosophy) in specialty «World History». Work in figurative and portrait genres also occupies a prominent place in my creative “baggage”. I am in constant search of new forms of expression of the human body, as well as the ability to transfer complex emotional states. Among other things, cinema is a special source of inspiration. I find the contact of fine art and cinema in the field of visualization of various ideas and images incredibly fascinating and enriching. In the work, the most commonly used materials are dry pastels, oils, pencil, black sauce, ink. Often I resort to mixing different materials and techniques to achieve certain artistic tasks.
