Contact us.CRKD SΛNCTΘ, is an Italian contemporary artist based in Sicily, Italy. Trained in Scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania, he approaches painting with a structural awareness of space, where the figure functions as both body and architecture. Early experimentation with video and photography broadened his visual research and continues to inform his multidisciplinary sensitivity.
His practice centres on the human figure - stretched, fractured, or held in suspension. Distortion in his work is not decorative but necessary: a method of exposing tension, vulnerability, and the latent brutality embedded in human nature. The body becomes a site of pressure, carrying psychological weight rather than narrative detail.
CRKD SΛNCTΘ is attentive to the increasing fragility of contemporary society and the subtle erosion of conditions once assumed to be stable. This atmosphere of instability surfaces in his paintings as restraint, compression, and unresolved balance. Violence is rarely explicit, yet it persists as an undercurrent - a silent possibility inscribed within the figure itself.
A recurring meditation on death and the inert body runs through his work. His figures often hover between vitality and stillness, presence and absence, suggesting mortality not as spectacle but as a constant condition shaping human behaviour.
He has participated in several group exhibitions throughout Italy and spent over a decade in the United Kingdom, particularly in London, where prolonged exposure to a dynamic urban visual culture sharpened his sense of immediacy and raw expression.
Now living and working in Sicily, Aresco draws from a landscape defined by contrast: rural expanses and industrial peripheries coexist within the same horizon. Rusted iron, abandoned structures, and Mediterranean light form a daily backdrop. This coexistence of beauty and corrosion echoes in his painted - fragile yet resistant, suspended between collapse and endurance.
