Abstract Landscape (Abstrakte Landschaft), Edition 1/10 Painting

The work is inspired by the artist’s surrealistic German poem Abstrakte Landschaft, whose text and translation is found at http://www.ottolaske.com/documents/German-Complete.pdf. It presents a surrealistic landscape invaded by ‘green objections’ on streets ‘we avoid in winter’. It is a landscape spinning around an undisclosed center of which only a part is visible and which is precariously grounded at the bottom of the work. The poet imagines the landscape filled with vagrants, people who greatly suffered in their life and on account of being left to themselves have become scum. As there are no human figures in the work, the landscape by itself hints at their suffering. The reddish regions of the work paint what the poem calls ‘rosige Abgrűnde verzagten Fleisches’, rose-colored pits of despondent flesh’. The work is printed on Hot Press Fine Art Smooth Bright White paper (an acid free, 100% cotton rag media with a bright textured finish, yielding an extremely high color gamut and black density). It is signed and numbered by the artist, accompanied by a CoA, and shipped without hanging hardware, in a very sturdy tube protected against folding and puncture.
