About The Artwork

Each stain brings with it a conversation. When there’s a question, we expect a response. I never plan my paintings. Each one is the result of documenting the appearance of an event or just its existence in a unit of time. To me, there are no wrong or right answers when it comes to art. Every stain, mistake, or gesture trains the next one, making my next move better. It’s fun, it’s conceptual, and sometimes scientific when combining mediums and colors. I tend to paint in layers to compensate for the large, bold, rigid stains, influenced by the experiences at that moment. Another element you will find in my latest works is the empty space left at the canvas borders. By leaving some blank zones on the canvas, I make it possible for the colored, textured stain to travel on its own where it thinks it should be. The result is these textured, rigid or fluid layers, all forming a conversation because the answer is art itself.

A Chisinau, Moldova based artist by the name of Gabriela Fussa has been honing her skills in painting for the past several years. Originally an interior designer, Gabriela has blended her passion for art with her four years of experience in studying design and thus bringing about a perfect marriage of these two passions. Gabriela’s venture into mixed media painting allowed her to include yet another element of this union and this extended the range of her skills even further. Her use of colors and mediums in paintings have allowed her to challenge the boundaries of people’s perception of art. In her opinion the best starting point when it comes to the appreciation of modern art is that it is not to decide whether it is good or not, but to understand how it evolved from the classical style of Da Vinci to the pickled sharks and unmade beds of today.
