About The Artwork
This work is based on my admiration for fossils and the fascination caused by its iconography. I worked on the qualities that reflect the absence of bright colors and dabbled in a restrictive palette based on grays and blacks. The technique is on a canvas basis "Cotton Duck" (Duck Cotton) I apply a primer of casein glue and continuous with acrylics, pigments diluted in the base of casein glue and wax pencil. The result is between abstraction and figuration with a minimalist touch. The canvas is stretched on a wooden frame and artwork is ready to hang. Framing is not required. It is signed on the front and on the back and is delivered with a certificate of authenticity.

Annabel Andrews was born in the Isle of Wight in 1940 now lives and works in El Escorial near Madrid Spain, where the colour, light and volumes of the mountains inspire her work. As also her friendship with the late Spanish artists Pablo Palazuelo and Jose Guerrero. By preparing her own canvases with home made casein glue base and zinc white the work is light and luminous ready for applying acrylic colours.
