About The Artwork
I'm drawn to the graphic divisions of space provided by urban landscape themes and the incredible surface textures of weathered and worn architectural structures. This glorious example of mid-century neon signage has weathered hurricanes and intense sun beating down on the beautiful design showcasing the bygone era. By portraying this scene I hope to help the viewer feel like they are there with the deep blue sky and sun reining on the surface. These iconic signs and architecture are disappearing across the US and I hope to preserve some of it in this way. I love working with watercolor and it takes many layers to build up this kind of color which take an immense amount of patience.
