About The Artwork

This art aims to catch two birds with one stone by obscuring boundary. As one of the commonplace objects that a still life typically depicts, an apple is expressed on the canvas. The object’s mode of expression and position look like still life paintings by the Impressionists. For example, the edges of the fruit are blurred and located in the air. However, rules of perspective are broken; in accordance with apple, inflated shadows and springs painted in apple color are analogous to the way pop art and cartoon adopt. After all, the painting breaks the boundary between impressionism and pop art (or cartoon) techniques. An audience can feel two arts at the same time: the familiarity given by one art through the object(apple) and a way of another art through variations in shapes and expressions.
