October Mist Painting

Inspiration This artwork was inspired by blustery walks on west coast beaches in the fall. Summer is over, the leaves are falling and the mist is rolling in over the water. It is that nostalgic time of year, when you are thinking about life, family and comittment. The weather is changing and the days are getting shorter. The colors of this painting echo the weather and the emotions, they are confronting and calming at the same time. I want the viewer to get lost in the painting, think about their life and their bigger place in this world. Style I paint landscapes in a minimal style because the viewer can fill in the details from their own memories of their life and travels. Their own interpretation of the colors and the scenery makes the painting more personal to them. Technical Details The entire painting (front, back and sides) is clear gessoed, to seal the wood. The sides and the front are sanded but there is still some light wood grain under the paint. The painting is done in artist grade acrylic on exhibition quality deep wood panel and sealed with a UV varnish. The sides are have a wood finish to maintain a contemporary look. The back of the painting is wired, ready to hang or be framed by a professional framer.
