About The Artwork

I´ve always had the idea of painting scenes through a window. It´s like seeing things withought being seen, like a "voyeur". Edward Hopper did it in his masterpiece "Room in New York". This summer I spent a few weeks in a house with a window overlooking a terrace and there I could do this picture. I hope viewers will feel the intimacy of the scene. They might feel identified and also they can imagine that she´s reading a love letter. I chose painting the scene in a small size because when I travel I can´t do it bigger. Also oil on canvas because it´s my favourite technique.
