Abstract with Rope, Kingston, NY 1973 (Vintage Color) 1/10 Photograph - Limited Edition of 10

An image of rust, peeling paint, and a rope. It long predates the wall and street abstracts people have been making in recent years. Some people call me a "pioneer" of fine art color as only myself and a few others were specializing in the medium in the early 1970's. Between 1978 and 1981, I was represented by the Alonzo Gallery in midtown New York CityThis was my first successful fine art color photograph, so it is somewhat near and dear to me. It was made after viewing a show of sculptures by Peggy Guggenheim in the Guggenheim Museum in New York City in the fall of 1973. Her work incorporated rope. However, I was also influenced by Aaron Siskind who photographed peeling paint. I combined the two and that created my style of combining walls with subjects in front of them, to create a truly three dimensional photographic image, instead of a flat two dimensional one. In July of 2010 it was published in a feature about me in the second issue of COLOR. The original has long ago faded and was discarded. I don't believe any copies of this exist from that time. This is a pristine new print, made from a scan of the original Kodak Ektacolor Professional negative. It was made by me and is one of a possible edition of 10 plus two artist's proofs, The advantage of purchasing this print is that it is much more stable than the original C print. It is the best print of the negative that I have ever made. It was made on an Epson Professional printer with archival pigment inks, which have a longevity of well over 100 years. The print is made on 22"X17" Epson Exhibition Fiber paper, which gives it a true photographic look as well as detail and saturation. There is a border of 1 inch on the sides, and 3.5 inches on the top and bottom. I have titled and numbered it on the bottom left, and signed and dated it on the lower right, in archival pen. It comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by me.
