About The Artwork

I made this image in the year 2000 when I decided to use the scanner as my camera. I wanted to make studies of the wild flowers using the scanner as a contact printer. Now this is in the early days so files cannot be that big. Scanning wild flowers evolved into a wonderful project because I would talk to the flowers and see visual pictures they would send me about how they would like to be portrayed. I told them they were going to be picked to create new flower imagery using a modern technique never used before in creating images of flowers that would be different and yet the similar to what we already knew about them in Painting, and illustration not to forget sculpture either. This image was made with a scanner with some manipulation on my part changing the exact form of the flower itself. Who was I coping was the big question and I am still not sure because Dali fits into the equation. Monet and Van Gogh also figure into this. Anyways I was trying to make original flower images and this is one of the best results I achieved after making hundreds of these over a whole summer. This technique worked the best here on these Blackeyes Susans. Plus these flowers had a special place in my heart growing up in the countryside. You can buy a one of a kind of this much larger or this one for the right offer.
