It was one of those Fridays when the florist below our loft was giving away aging flowers before the weekend closure. I, for one, can never see beautiful flowers discarded. The white callas may have seen more youthful days, but to me callas are ageless. I feel they carry the spirit of youth, never losing their ardor and sensuality.

From the series "Callas".

Marco Domeniconi is an Italian-born visual artist based in New York City. Before devoting himself entirely to art, he earned a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and worked as a research scientist and professor at CUNY and NYU. It was while teaching in these vibrant university settings that he discovered the desire to express his creative identity. He has studied digital and large-format photography at the International Center of Photography, and drawing and painting at the New York Academy of Art. Nowadays, he works with various techniques from moody, unplanned black & white photographs to energetic, colorful abstractions. Both as a painter and as a photographer, he explores the interplay between his actions – direct and indirect - and unexpected events. He has produced private showcases, and participated in exhibitions both in the United States and internationally.
