About The Artwork
Quite a few years ago I remember looking at an image by the American photographer Robert Frank that featured a strong, dominant shadow that he had used as an essential component in his composition. It has taken me a while, but I have become increasingly interested in looking for shadows and reflections over the last few years, because they often provide a composition that is fleeting and temporary, completely dependant on where the sun is and what it's rays hit. All of which is often taken for granted in our everyday lives, but quite often quite beautiful if there is time to look and appreciate. The Image size is 79cm x 52.6 printed on Innova 315gsm Smooth Cotton High White Matte paper using Epson Ultrachrome HDR inks. Paper is A1 size - 84.1cm x 59.4. Signature, Date, Title and Edition Number on Verso. Sent with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Born in 1955 in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and could not wait to get away. Spent time after finishing an ignominious school career in Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan Pakistan, India and Nepal. Then studied Photography at Sheffield Poly, starting in 1979. Did Teacher Training and taught for 1 year at a school in North London which was more than enough. Subsequently worked for Warner Brothers in a non photographic capacity and the BBC both Teaching and Photographing. I have recently returned to working with traditional, wet processes alongside digital. The images in my portfolio start in the 70's and go through to the present day. www.ianhoskin.co.uk
