About The Artwork

This tunnel isn't even a mile from my home. As is usual with my art I take a source work and let instinct take over. This work picked the right time to emerge; or I was in a Halloween state of mind. My work remains 100% in the digital realm until it is time to put it to canvas. This work has been put to a matte aluminum canvas by the fine folks at Canvaspress.

I'm a lifelong rebel which was cemented by my overcoming disability by taking my health into my own hands. I lived for 2yrs unable to walk or talk, disability sat in around the end of my senior year of high school. I squeaked out both my graduation & a driver's license before my health got in my way. I'm self-educated in a variety of subjects & as I like to say my 'best test subject.' I was born in October of 93' and am 22yrs old. My art in itself is an experiment that has grown out of my control. And I say that in the literal sense as my tools do not always save the image which I am shown on screen; I accept this as my original experimentation was on the removal of the artist from the artistic process. Limited by current technology I've been using photographs as source material & a manual random process for creating abstraction. My goal is to develop a system where I can give a machine a blank canvas to work on & as the artist be the conductor of an automated process of abstraction. When you buy my work you're funding further R&D into this subject & hopefully the growth of a future design business I intend to build with my random-abstract artistic style at the helm. The name 'Vergobret' is a Gaulish translation of the word Executive. The styles of artwork I prefer myself are Vorticism, Futurism, Expressionism, and Geometric Abstraction. The styles I manifest in my work, if they exist, I am unfamiliar with them. I exclusively use the digital format due to the ease of warping an entire composition into something different. Utilizing digital tools is the only way in that I am able to develop my style of non-deliberate art without repeating the work of those who have come before me. Only in the world of computers where the laws of physics do not apply can my art achieve the level of randomness that I desire. It is my belief the clearest image of an artist emerges in not what is created; but what is deemed worth saving & sharing. To this I have noticed a pattern in the emotions/perspectives which appear in the art I share: Feelings of discomfort & 'noise' toward the modern diet, optimism toward a technological future, brutal sterile self-reflection, a neutral attitude toward consumerism, and a general distaste for melancholy. Surely there are exceptions amongst my portfolio, on some days even contradictions.
