I like to walk and spot human traces in the landscape. Here, someone placed a sofa, for passers-by to use. You sit on the sofa, take in the silence and the smell of ground and leaves, and figure in the distance the see of Galilee.

Israel
My interest is humanity: people in their environment and human traces in landscape. My artistic practice is well anchored in the tradition of street and documentary photography. I stand on the shoulders of 20th century masters such as Walker Evans, Andrew Kertezs, Henry Cartier-Bresson, Joseph Koudelka, Willi Ronis, and others. My way of photographing includes much walking and much waiting. I step quietly into a space, I observe it, and at times I photograph its inhabitants, as they pass by in ephemeral fleeting moments. Even if my projects are not “documentary” in nature, the way I work (no staging, mostly unnoticed, in public settings, without any substantial editing) makes my images by definition also documents of a precise time and space. My passers-by have been there. They existed once. And we are all witnesses.
