I’ve always been a sucker for a good ghost story. I think there are numerous reasons why ghosts stories are such a powerful and enduring form of story telling. They deal with our most basic fears of death and the unknown, with loss and longing, and with our connections to the past. They evoke mystery and atmosphere, embody dread, suspense, and terror, and can speak to anguish and despair. In these ways they offer a potent source of meaning. I don’t believe in ghosts or other supernatural beings, but while I’ve never been actually haunted by ghosts, I’ve certainly at times felt haunted in my life, by feelings, people, or memories. I’m sure we all have, and perhaps one of the reasons why ghost stories are so powerful is that they can convey the feel of that kind of figurative haunting by depicting an actual one. Limited edition of 30 - signed and numbered on the print below the image and on an enclosed Certificate of Authenticity. Printed on Canson Platine Fibre Rag, an archival fine art paper.
