While traveling in the Upper Peninsula Michigan I see trains covered in vegetation and during winter months, snow. These trains are placed in storage on the tracks in remote and hard to reach places. It requires walking the tracks for hours to reach and photograph them. They represent a time when copper mines were the foundation for thousands of jobs. The copper mines are now closed and these massive train cars sit quietly waiting to be restored into service. This painting incorporates a ghostly figure of a railroad employee and Train EEC 2136.
