Golden Age, Green House- Limited Edition 1 of 20 Photograph

This image was taken inside an abandoned farm house that I discovered in the woods near my home in Southwest Michigan. The house stands alone on a hill down a lonely dirt road, the barn and outbuildings that once were a part of this homestead have succumbed to the elements. Only this once stately home and a rusted, creaking windmill remain. Time and the cruel Michigan weather have left their marks, yet it retains a quiet elegance. I come here often, each time wondering about the families that called this place home, and what circumstances lead them to abandon this haunting, yet beautiful place. I am captivated by the effects of weather and time on abandoned interiors. Every time I enter an empty house, I am amazed and inspired by the beauty of the layers being stripped away, by the chemistry of the elements and the building materials interacting with each other, as though the wind and rain are painting abstract masterpieces on the dilapidated walls, ceilings, and floors. The image is printed with Epson archival pigment inks on ultra premium Epson paper.
