About The Artwork

"All human emotion is headquartered in a love of self." Dominic Rouse (The Artist's Journal, February 2004) Hang'er is an elegy to abandoned love - pungent with emotion, it was composed in response to the challenges of a failed relationship. A hand-made, toned silver gelatin darkroom print from a digitally composed 5" x 4" negative printed onto Ilford warmtone semi-matt paper. The toner used is thiocarbamide which gives the print its beautiful warm tones and also increases the archival qualities of the print by removing most of the silver-halides from the emulsion layer. Paper Size - 20" x 16" Image Size - 15" x 14" Edition - 16 Negative Date - October 1996 Print Date - May 2000 Catalogue - DHR0001BW Condition - Excellent Signed & numbered in pencil lower right front Artist's blind stamp lower left front Artist's ink stamp, title & notations in pencil lower rear Certificate of Print Authenticity

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

Dominic Rouse has been described as one of the most interesting photographers working today. He is a visionary in the truest sense of the word and his work probably has more in common with painting than photography. Brooks Jensen, the editor of America's LensWork Magazine, has said that Rouse does not take pictures of the world, he makes photographs of his mind. His unique vision and mastery of his craft set him apart from most of the other photographers who use the computer in their practice. His work may appear to be rooted in the past but it is the product of a seamless blend of the latest digital technologies and the timeless qualities of large format black and white photography.
