The inner sanctum and sexus of an hibiscus flower from a series titled, Erotica. Inspired by the ecstasy of love. In August 2009, at the Medellin Botanical Garden in Colombia, South America, during the annual Festival of Flowers, I embarked on a photographic journey into the heart of orchids and hibiscus flowers. Inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe's iconic flower paintings, encountered in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 2006, this series explores the intricate beauty of these blooms. I chose photography as my medium to capture the fleeting perfection of these flowers. These images aim to evoke a sense of wonder, reverence, and tranquility, inviting viewers to appreciate the often-overlooked wonders of the natural world. Each photograph emphasizes the sensuality and vitality of the petals, echoing O'Keeffe's ability to infuse her subjects with a sense of the divine. During that day in Medellin, the love I felt for my future wife radiated through each photograph, revealing emotions that continue to resonate within me. These portraits serve as a reminder that true love can be found in delicate intricacies and subtle shadows, even when the rest remains out of focus.
