This image is from my "Rust" series. One of my favorite beaches, near my home, is call Higbee Beach. This beach is full of driftwood and weathered trees. I am fascinated by the patterns in the wood grains, and the wind weathered forms. I found these of pieces of driftwood and I thought they look like creatures, so I combined them with one of my rust photos to create a whimsical feel. My grandson gladly offered to be my model.

After working most of my life in the Graphic Arts world, I am finally putting my more creative work out into the world. Please join me in this new journey, a second chapter perhaps. Thomas Pohlig was born in Georgia, USA, but was raised in Southern New Jersey, where he developed a love for the natural beauty of the area. Growing up just a few minutes from the beach, he spent many of his childhood days exploring the shorelines and observing the unique characteristics of the coast. Over the years, Pohlig has honed his skills and gained a reputation as a talented landscape photographer. His work has been featured in local galleries. He has been featured in Monovisions Black and White Magazine where he has also been on the Judging panel for their 2022 and 2023 photography competition. Thomas has also been featured in "f11 News", Landscape Photography, and Photography Week magazines. Pohlig's work is characterized by his use of monochrome tones, which he believes brings a sense of mystery and depth to his images. He is drawn to the ethereal quality of long exposure photography, and the way it can capture the movement and flow of water and clouds. In addition to his monochrome landscapes, Pohlig also creates imaginative and whimsical color photographic imagery. He is always looking for new ways to push the boundaries of what is possible in photography, and he is constantly experimenting with different techniques and tools to create truly unique and captivating images. Pohlig's work is a testament to his love for the natural world and his passion for photography. He continues to inspire others with his stunning images, and he is always looking for new ways to capture the beauty and wonder of the world around us.
