The tubes represent channels of communication, inlets and outlets for words and thoughts. They remind us of the mouth's capability to shape words that can mold the world around us. In classical mythology, there are numerous examples of the power of spoken words. A notable example is the story of Orpheus, whose words were so powerful they could even move animals and stones. Similarly, this series of works is meant to provoke viewers to contemplate the power of the spoken and unspoken word, what flows through the tubes of human expression, and how these shape our reality.

The focus of ARTURUTRA is mouths. Yet these fragmented bodies do not conform to classical portraits. They often resemble staged still lifes. The works are characterized by a narrative ambiguity. The viewer sees and must fill in the missing elements themselves. Perhaps they view with the eyes constantly absent in the works. Then, the depicted mouths speak with the inner voice of the observer.
