About The Artwork

In this striking image from Kelidar, we observe a young boy named Amir Mohammad engrossed in the task of washing a sheep's skin. The photo captures a moment of daily life where the lines between childhood and labor blur, a common scene in the village where even the young contribute to the workload. Amir Mohammad, with a knit cap snugly fitting over his head and a serious expression on his face, shows a level of concentration and diligence that belies his tender age. His hands, small yet capable, work methodically over the skin, ensuring it is thoroughly cleaned. The texture of the sheepskin is almost tangible through the image, highlighting the tactile nature of his chore. This photograph not only documents the industriousness of village children but also evokes a sense of the harsh realities they face, where playtime and work often intermingle. Despite the weight of his responsibilities, there's a quiet resilience in Amir Mohammad's demeanor, a silent testament to the inner strength that the children of Kelidar must possess.
