LOOKING AT A V2 I like the vintage imagery of extraordinary historical events. I wanted to create my own. The human lure for intrigue and dangerous curiosity is appealing, so I applied this to the scene. An otherwise passive landscape is now a dangerous place. I also wanted to move the time to the next decade to instil subtle differences to reality and throw in the sense of instability. The fashion from the 1950s takes the scene into the next decade, so the image has become perceptibly surreal.

PETER HUCKERBY Moments before a thunderstorm, a sense something is about to change, something exciting, possibly dangerous. My images are in essence an attempt to capture a development just before the event. I love unattainable stillness. Nothing in view is impossible, although could be unsettling yet exhilarating! I live in Britain; I love the spiritual, mythical, ancient and superstitious overtones that embrace the land. Subtle but still visible if you look deeply. Safe fear, like watching horror movies, ultimately can be unsatisfying. Still, imagery can deliver a more enduring emotion letting the viewer complete the story.
