La Femme VII | 24x36 Limited Edition Fine Art Prints | 1/25 Photograph

I've chosen a series specifically for Saatchi Art Collectors and Curators that is composed of 13 images from my body of work that honor the feminine spirit - its mystery, fire, passion, intensity, softness and determination. As with the soul of every woman, each piece is rich with a deeper meaning beneath the surface. La Femme VII was photographed at the Armani Ristorante in NYC. I was documenting RESUSCITATE NYC during their first conference where they would feature a speaker line up consisting of only women across their various areas of expertise in the medical field. The speakers were celebrated the night before at a dinner during which I quite literally was offered a seat at the table. As an artist, and one who, at the time, was just emerging from quite a repressive environment, I felt I had nothing to offer these women. They saw it as quite the opposite. They were experts in their fields, but not in mine and so asked questions with kindness, consideration and admiration and respected my work in the same way they respected their own. I was floored and forever impacted. As I stood up to leave, I noticed the light from a wine glass dancing off of a bare wall. The organic figure juxtaposed with the graphic lines and color mirrored the experience I had just had with these women. Because each were secure in who they were, they were able to step into the world and welcome others different from themselves with a lightness, ease and openness. *Please note* Prints are produced on demand.
