Hans Krahtz is a freelance photographer living and working in Düsseldorf (Germany) and part-time in the USA. Portraiture, fine-art and documentary photography are his core themes. Currently he works mainly on personal long-term projects and depending on the theme he works on commissioned projects. He started at the time of the analog photography. Friends who worked as professional photographers have taught him how to take pleasing photos and what extraordinary results require. After “learning-by-doing” he attended workshops with well-known photographers, and he studied the photography aesthetic of the “Becher School” (*) and so forth. At first, he did a lot portraiture, thereafter city- and landscapes in Europe and USA, and product- and fashion photos for advertising. In Africa, far away from the tourism, he documented the lives of the people in their environment and the nature. His works have been published in international magazines (GEO, National Geographic, Stern...), and later in online publications as well. Several portraits and landscape photos received awards at international photo competitions and have been featured in print and online publications in the USA and Europe. * Bernd Becher was Professor for photography 1976-96 at the Academy of Arts in Düsseldorf (Germany)
